Hall, Stairs and Landing Decorating in a Watford New Build
Last summer I completed a hall, stairs and landing painting and decorating project in Watford for a young couple who were preparing their home ahead of the arrival of a new baby. The property was a three-bedroom new build, and the brief was to create a calm, clean and welcoming space that would flow well throughout the home.
The Brief
The focus of the project was to freshen up the hallway, staircase and landing, ensuring a bright, durable finish that would stand up to everyday use while still feeling soft and comfortable for a growing family.
As part of the work, the oak staircase was finished with a clear Osmo oil, allowing the natural character of the wood to show through while providing long-lasting protection.
Products and Approach
This was the first project where I used Dulux Ultra Matt, and it proved to be an excellent choice for a busy family area. The ultra-matt finish helped reduce visible imperfections and created a smooth, modern look that suited the new build perfectly.
Careful preparation, clean cutting-in and attention to detail were key to achieving a high-quality result across multiple levels of the property.
The Result
The finished hall, stairs and landing felt bright, calm and cohesive, setting the tone for the rest of the home. The Osmo-finished oak staircase added warmth and durability, while the freshly painted walls created a clean, contemporary backdrop ready for family life.
