Transforming a Woodland Home in Watford

Set within a beautiful woodland estate on the outskirts of Watford, this mid-century property was in need of a fresh new look to suit its new owners.

The exterior timberwork had previously been painted in a traditional brown colour scheme which, although common when the property was built, felt dated and heavy against the surrounding woodland setting. After discussing several options with the client, I recommended a much more contemporary approach using Farrow & Ball Exterior Black for the soffits and fascias, combined with Osmo Black on the barge boards.

The contrast worked particularly well with the property's mid-century architecture, creating a smart, modern appearance while still sitting naturally within its wooded surroundings.

Living amongst mature trees certainly has its challenges. The property was heavily affected by falling leaves, sap and general debris from the surrounding woodland, something I could sympathise with throughout the project. However, despite the extra preparation and cleaning required, it was a pleasure to work on such a unique home in such a peaceful setting.

The finished result completely transformed the exterior, giving the property a crisp, contemporary feel that reflected the tastes of the new family while respecting the character of the original building.

If you're considering updating the exterior of your home and would like advice on colours, finishes or suitable products, I'd be happy to help.
